RECON Environmental:
Over 50 Years of Service

RECON Environmental was established in San Diego in 1972 with the enactment of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and in 1977 became a California corporation. Providing over five decades of continuous service, we are one of the longest-established environmental consulting firms in the Southwest. Through our ongoing commitment to excellence, we have become a trusted leader in the industry, providing reliable and comprehensive environmental planning and ecological restoration services to public and private sector clients throughout the Southwest.

Since its founding, RECON has been involved in a number of landmark projects including the San Diego Clean Water Program in the early 1990s, the largest infrastructure improvement project in the city at the time. Through effective consensus building with multiple resource agencies, jurisdictions, landowners, and stakeholders, we were instrumental in the development of several large-scale habitat conservation plans in California, Arizona, and Nevada, resulting in the preservation of millions of acres of sensitive habitats for protected and listed species. RECON played a key role in the environmental compliance process for the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan, which encompasses 22 million acres within seven counties in southern California. Currently, we are playing a key role in providing the environmental documentation for multiple plans that allow the development of sustainable and complete communities in cities throughout southern California.

A proud milestone in our history was becoming a 100 percent employee-owned corporation in 2010. Our President, Rob Hobbs, along with all our valued team members are fully committed to the success of the company and are dedicated to the continued commitment to excellence, integrity, and quality of service for all clients.
