Grading / Recontouring

Our equipment operators understand the micro-scale variations in contours to successfully grade sites for proper water movement. This is crucial in the establishment of vernal pools and other small-scale habitat types.

Project Example: J2 Racetrack Rehabilitation Project

Focus: Revegetation and erosion control

Location: Fort Irwin, CA

Habitat Type: Creosote bush–white bursage desert scrub

Plant Installation: 1,500 plants on 13 acres

Erosion Control: 22 miles of road rehabilitation; 1,200 feet of desert wash

RECON successfully implemented a large-scale desert scrub ecological restoration project on Fort Irwin, consisting of the installation of 1,500 site-sourced container plants within 13 acres of degraded habitat. The plants were intermixed with 1,200 feet of jute and gabion erosion control structures associated with the desert wash components of the ecosystem. In addition, RECON rehabilitated 22 miles of degraded desert road to alleviate gullying, ruts, and erosion.
