RECON realizes that the wellbeing of a community relies heavily on effort put forth to maintain environmental and social health. RECON is dedicated in aiding our communities both as a company and on an individual employee basis.
Here are some of the ways RECON reaches out.
I Love a clean san diego
RECON supports I Love A Clean San Diego’s Creek to Bay cleanup events by removing trash, graffiti and invasive weeds at our “adopted” Maple Canyon located in the Banker’s Hill/Mission Hills area of San Diego. I Love a Clean San Diego honored RECON with the Employee Engagement Award for our strong support of the community, environment, and organization.
SANDAG iCommute & Bike to Work Day
RECON is an avid and long-time supporter of SANDAG’s iCommute program through participation in their annual National Rideshare Week and Bike to Work Day events. These programs aim to help reduce traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions throughout the region. Our enthusiastic volunteers staff a pit stop for participants to rest, enjoy refreshments and entertainment, and get lots of encouragement.
ocean discovery institute
RECON helps fulfill ODI's mission of reaching out to inner city students and exposing them to career opportunities in the field of environmental sciences. Through our long partnership with ODI, RECON offers student internships in the biological science profession.
frosted faces foundation
RECON biologist Andrew Smisek and his wife operate a 501(c)(3) non-profit called Frosted Faces Foundation. Based in Ramona, the organization rescues senior dogs and cats from being euthanized in public shelters, provides them with adequate veterinary care, and finds them a permanent home with a loving family.
Gary & Mary West Senior Wellness Center
RECON staff has been volunteering with the Serving Seniors program at the Gary & Mary West Senior Wellness Center in downtown San Diego for many years. The seniors are always appreciative of a healthy lunch and love the RECON team aprons.
