New CEQA Project Director

RECON is pleased to announce that Lori Spar has been promoted to CEQA Project Director!

Lori joined RECON in 2008 and has over 20 years of experience in the environmental field. She has worked in the legal, public, and private sectors. She also has an exceptionally wide range of experience in project management, environmental planning and analysis, and environmental litigation. Congratulations, Lori!

Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation and RECON Team Up!

The Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation and RECON have launched a multiyear habitat enhancement and fire risk reduction project at targeted locations throughout Mission Trails Regional Park. In the fall, RECON crews spent several weeks removing stands of dry, non-native grasses and other invasive plant species, particularly around endangered plant populations and along popular trails. Invasive plant species removal helps expand critical native habitats and improves their fire resiliency. The project is funded by the San Diego River Conservancy.

Habitat Restoration in the News

In partnership with the City of Encinitas and the San Diego Botanic Garden, RECON is advancing habitat restoration throughout Encinitas. Community partners and RECON’s restoration ecologists are working to improve native habitat at Oak Crest Park and other open space areas within the Habitat Stewardship Program.

Community Events and Awards

RECON was a proud sponsor at the San Diego County Archaeological Society’s Arch in the Park event on October 19th! Held at the Los Peñasquitos Ranch House, this event offered students and future archaeologists valuable insights into careers, volunteer opportunities, and networking with archaeological firms, universities, museums, tribes, and local and state agencies.

RECON was honored as a Platinum Tier recipient by the San Diego Association of Governments for our Employer Commuter program at the annual Diamond Awards reception. In support of SANDAG’s campaign, we encourage carpooling to project sites, offer flexible work schedules, and proudly host an annual pit stop for Bike Anywhere Day in May.
